Mosselen is situated in the heart of one of the oldest middle-class neighborhoods of Budapest, in the area called Lipótváros (Leopoldstown) on the Pest side of the city. Mosselen is located on the ground floor of a 70-year-old residence building. This particular cornder of the building has had a long tradition of hosting excellent restaurants, dating back to the beginning of its existence.

The word "mosselen" is Flemish for mussel, reflecting on the fact that this is a Belgian beer cafe.
Mosselen is doing an excellent job of promoting Belgium as the country of good beer and good food. Belgian beer is of course at the focus of our drinking list, with 8 beers on tap and a further 25 in bottles. All of them are poured and served strictly in the Belgian way, which requires just the right temperature and each brand's individual glass and beer coaster.

The kitchen of Mosselen is French and Belgian insipred. For those who prefer to just try the many different beers, the pub has a variety of beer snacks to offer alongside. For those who are interested in a real meal with several courses, they offer a complete menu with cold and hot starters, soups, salads, poultry, fish and mussels, pork, steak and lamb. Vegetarians will also find their favorites on the menu. Dessers complete the meal.

Mosselen's clientele is a mixture of local middle-class regulars and foreigners living in Budapest. It is not rare to see well-known figures of Hungarian public life, such as actors, TB and media personalities, sipping their beer with friends in Mosselen.
