Of late years winter sports have also greatly developed. In different parts of the Tatra, especially in Tatralomnicz, Tatrafured and Tatraszeplak splendid tracks are at the disposition of the friends of sport. The favourable situation of the Tatra, the mighty snow-drifts, the gentle inclines and windings, make them especially suitable for all kinds of snow-sports. Excellent snow courses are available at the foot of the Tatra and the visitor finds here Norwegian Stolkjare Sleighs, toboggans, skeletons, bobsleighs, Rennwolf, hockey and other winter games. Needless to say good skating-places are also not missing, so that all Winter Sports arc much developed; international skiing and other competitions have been arranged and attract not only Hungarians but also visitors from afar. For the rest, the climate of the Tatra in winter, is exceedingly agreeable.
The sun is warm and its rays so strong that one can go about, and sit in the open, without an overcoat; consequently the winter months are just as brisk as those of mid-summer, and excursions and ascents are made in all seasons.
