At Rozsahegy the Vag valley widens into a broad, extensive plain, the Lipto plateau, which rises gradually from an altitude of 500 meters in the West to 898 meters in the East, where it reaches the Watershed of Csorba, the Eastern boundary of the county of Lipto, and joins the Zips plateau. The Lipto plateau is bounded on the North by the already mentioned Lipto Alps, and on the South, by the long ridge of the Lower Tatra, consisting of the groups of the Prasiva, the Gyomber and the Konigsberg. All these mountains are rich in natural beauties; we, however, speed past them, and only stop at Csorba (898 meters), situated on the Watershed, from where a cog-wheel railway leads to the celebrated Lake of the same name.

There, one of the most beautiful panoramas of Europe, unrolls itself before our eyes. The magnificent mountain lake surrounded by glorious pine-woods, spreads out over a surface of 20 Hectares (1 Hectare = 2-471 acres) with the bold jagged peaks of the High Tatra, forming a magnificent background. The High Tatra, the only important mountain-chain in Hungary, stretches out before us in all its beauty; its peaks are covered with snow, and separated by wild, deep gorges. One is never tired of admiring this glorious panorama.
