The Royal Castle, an imposing building, -- and according to its position perhaps the most beautiful Royal Castle in the World -- crowns the hill. It overlooks the beautiful river and commands the large distant town, over which it looks into the endless lowland plain of the Alfold. Under Kings Bela IV and Robert Karl, magnificent palaces were erected here, which under Mathias Corvinus, vied in brilliance and splendour with the most luxurious foreign residences.
