South of Brasso, near to the Romanian border, stretches a wild, high mountain-chain of great beauty. The Keresztenyhavas (1802 meters) is easy to ascend, and from the Shelterhouse a very beautiful view can be obtained. The ascent of the Nagykohavas (1840 meters), is more difficult, though just as beautiful, and can be combined with a visit to the superb Tamina Gorge. Mount Csukas (1958 meters) in the East, and Mount Kiralyko (2240 meters) in the West, offer much interest to the tourist. 1 he latter mountain especially, presents superb, rocky slopes, with magnificent ravines, and the Crepatura Gorge, a natural beauty of the first rank. The most interesting excursion in the mountains, however, is the ascent of the Bucsecs, in the immediate neighbourhood of the frontier, to the South West of Brasso. It is an imposing mountain, 2506 meters high; on its summit rises a large rock resembling a human being, and called for that reason "Man". We are on the borders of Romania and at the end of our tour. For those who dread the trouble of these alpine ascents, there are many easy excursions or rather walks in the neighbourhood of Brasso itself. The most beautiful leads to the summit of the Csenk, which is crowned by a Millennium Memorial. The whole chain of the South East Carpathians, unfolds itself along the horizon, while immediately beneath the tourist, lies the picturesque town of Brasso, the most advanced post of Hungarian civilization, in the East.
