Hungarian Salaries

How much should you pay your Hungarian employees?

   Hungarian salaries

Salaries are very important for Hungarian employees, sometimes even to the point of obsession. Since we rather trust the things we can touch, we do not care much about statistics. No matter if politicians say the wages are going up, most of us still measure the value of a job by the amount of money we earn. It is also an important factor that the most reputable jobs in the eyes of the employees are the ones with a safe wage. And since often Hungarian employers tend to pay their employees with excuses instead of money (words like "we are out of cash now..." can go on for months), people tend to put their hope into public service or multinational corporations. For most people, the value of the job simply equals the amount of salary, with little or no consideration of the working conditions, atmosphere, and other factors (for example, having a meaningful job is rarely a point as long as the payment is decent).

This, however, does not answer the question. Since most Hungarians feel being underpaid, and many are on a minimum wage job, they really appreciate employers who give them a fair amount of payment for the work they do (Hungarian and multinational corporations often fail to do that, not trying to build the loyalty of employees). It may be a good start to see how much domestic companies pay for a certain job, and pay a bit more, with being open to give a raise for a job well done, or other allowances. Also, you should not ask how much someone would like to earn on a job interview - many people have no idea how much their work would worth, so they will either name a ridiculously high sum, or underestimate their own capabilities. In short, the most important thing is being honest, and seriously considering the payment capabilities of your company. Despite of being so focused on money, Hungarian employees can work very well if they feel they are paid well.
