  • Hungarian is a language spoken by some 15 million Hungarians, two third of it in Hungary. It belongs to the Finno-Ugric family of languages. Nomadic Hungarian horsemen came from the East and arrived in the Karpat basin sometime in the 9th century, settling there to form a new country. The coronation of St Istvan, the first Christian king marks the establishment of the Kingdom of Hungary.
    Hungarian, or magyar, is a difficult language to learn, with 14 vowels and at least 238 possible noun forms.
