NAVAJOS IN THEIR NEW RESERVATION
Appropriation for the recently surrendered Navajo Indians

   Navajos in their new reservation

The Navajo Indians. -- The Navajo Indians, of New Mexico, having recently surendered to the United States forces, the proper authorities have asked Congress for an appropriation of $100,000 with which to procure them agricultural implements and subsistence, until they can support themselves on the reservatino set apart for their colonization.

The Navajos have been at war for nearly two centuries, and the peaceful plan now proposed is deemed more economical than the large war expenditures heretofore incurred in New Mexico. They number about 7,000.
