As an example of the spiritual nature of the SARS hysteria, Chinese children in these drawings refer to doctors fighting SARS as "white-clothed angels." In this particular drawing a male white-clothed angel is aiding a patient who is waiving to us with a flower in his hands. The red banner on the top has a line of Chinese characters saying, "We express our admiration to the white-clothed angels."
On the left side of the picture the Chinese characters in two vertical lines say, "Preventing SARS means valuing life." On the right side, the single row of red characters is the name and affiliation of the artist.
The patient in the picture could potentially be the artist himself. This is supported by the red shirt and yellow pants which are characteristic warm colors Chinese children like to choose when depicting themselves. The flower is another symbol. Thus the child boldly puts himself into the hands of the angel/doctor. Both of them wear masks, which was very much part of the dress code during the epidemic. This also suggests that on the picture the fight is still going on.
