St. Petersburg, Jan 19
The Czar, in furtherence of his scheme of European disarmament, sought and obtained an interview with Count Tolstoi, the famous Russian novelist and social reformer - whom only a few days ago the Procurator-General of the Holy Synod desired to have expelled from Russia.
The subject was discussed at some length, and the Count is understood to have expressed himself to be favourable to the Czar's proposals. Count Tolstoi told the Czar that Russia ought to set the example to the world by disarming.
