The pictures of dwarfs below come from four different traditions. The first picture is a painting by Diego Rodriguez de Silva y Velasquez, entitled Prince Baltasar Carlos with a Dwarf. Velasquez painted many pictures about dwarfs in the Spanish court.

The second picture is an illustration for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs by Chrles Folkard. It appeared in a Grimm fairy tales book in 1911.

The third picture is illustration of a scene from J. R. R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. Dwarfs have been integral parts of fantasy novels and art ever since.

The fourth picture is a movie poster of Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs from 1937.
