The pictures of the geisha below come from four different traditions. Picture one is
a cover of a magazine with a beautiful geisha on it.
The second is an old, 19th century photograph of a geisha holding an umbrella.
The third picture is a depiciton of a geisha on a woodblock print by Utamaro. This type of print genre is called
Ukiyoe, or Pictures of the Floating World.
The fourth picture is the cover design on the film Geisha House with Kinji Fukasaku.
