Pictures of generals - Drawings and paintings of generals

The pictures of generals below come from four different traditions. The first picture is the Arabian general, Salah ad-Din, or Saladin from a 12th century Arabian codex.

The second picture is a medieval general, Joan of Arc, or Jeanne d'Arc. It was painted between 1450 and 1500.

The third picture is a Spanish general, Francisco Pizzarro. It is the most common depiction of the great conquistador.

The fourth picture is a painting of General George Washington. It was painted by Stuart Gilbert in 1795.
