The samurai are the knights of Japan. With Japan's economic success they started appearing in movies in the West, exemplifying courage and the sense of honor. The discipline of the samurai is known as Bushido, or the Way of the Warrior. The first picture is the front cover of Harry Cook's book Samurai: The story of a warrior tradition, published in 1993.

The second picture is the cover of the Japanese DVD called Miyamoto Musashi, about the 17th-century warrior by that name.

The third picture is a shot from the movie Ghost Dog with Forest Whitaker playing a samurai. In this picture he is training with a sword on the roof, doing his kata.

The forth picture shows a Japanese postcard of samurai battling on a horseback. The original of this picture is a woodblock print.

The fifth picture is a poster showing Tom Cruise dressed as a samurai in the movie The Last Samurai.
