The pictures of the shaman below come from four different traditions. The first picture is a Tartar shaman. It appeared in the book of Johann Gottlieb Grigorij, A Description of All Nationalities in the Russian Empire, in 1799.

The second picture is a photo of an Indian shaman, or medicine-man.

The third picture is a Syberian shaman shown on a Russian postcard.

The fourth picture is a Yakut shaman.
