Pictures of the shark - Drawings and paintings of the shark

The pictures of the shark below come from four different traditions. Picture one is Brook Watson and the Shark, a painting by the American John Singleton Copley from 1778.

The second picture is a hand-colored engraving of the shark from George Louis Leclerc Buffon's Natural History. It appeared in the English edition of the book in 1821.

The third picture is of a "contemporary" shark. It is a movie poster of Jaws, the famous Steven Spielberg movie from 1975.

The fourth picture shows a different depiction of the shark. It is a painting on an Israeli warplane from the 50's.
